Writing sample...

As corporate entities, sometimes we are more transactional, versus relational. I believe that this is causing such a negative shift in our work environment. Focusing a little more on the relational, doesn’t have to cost a thing. Taking a few minutes to say thank you to a coworker , subordinate or contractor, can improve work relationships exponentially. We forget that we are a complex “entity built from smaller pieces”, we focus on the whole and not the sum of the parts. How would our car run if we never got the oil changed? If we never changed our air filters? It may still run, but not as efficiently. It may putter along and get us where we need to go, but our lack of attention the sum of the parts, will inevitably cost us money in the long run, whether it be in large repairs or a car replacement, sooner rather than later. I think we all need to slow down and take the few seconds to say thank you, personally, not in a mass email, can make the difference in an employees work ethic and daily contribution to your organization.
